Chrysalis

We are a charity based in St Helens town centre, supporting women aged 18 and over who are experiencing the effects of mental health and domestic abuse. Our aim is to help women recover, rebuild confidence, and create happier, healthier lives.

What we do...

Women can be referred by a professional organisation / GP or they can refer themselves online at our website. Once we receive the referral, we aim to make contact within 2 weeks to complete a registration. Once registered, women can access one-to-one counselling, with face-to-face and remote sessions available Monday to Friday 9am to 4pm. Remote appointments are also offered during evenings and weekends. We also run a wide range of therapeutic groups focusing on health and wellbeing, confidence, stress and anxiety, coping skills, menopause, domestic abuse recovery, and social inclusion. We will soon be launching Divergent Women, a new support group for late-diagnosed neurodivergent women.

We work in partnership with other organisations to deliver additional support, including the Human Book Club with Unite Bridge Hope, Adult and Community Learning courses, and CGL local drug and alcohol support service run a weekly group at Chrysalis, Beyond the Storm for women who have drug/alcohol issues and have experienced domestic abuse. We also offer a drop-in service at the local refuge.

Registered service users can also access a range of online wellbeing courses at heavily discounted rates, including Brave Women (stress and anxiety), Confident Women (confidence and assertiveness), and Journey Through Grief (bereavement support).
